Open Art Museum
Description
The open art museum was founded in 1988 by the Foundation for Swiss Naive Art and Art Brut, which was established by the three collector couples Erna and Curt Burgauer, Mina and Josef John and Simone and Peter Schaufelberger-Breguet. The aim of both the foundation and the museum is to awaken and promote interest and understanding for the various areas of “Outsider Art”.
Over the almost 35 years of its existence, the open art museum has amassed an extensive collection. You can experience some of the almost 30,000 works it owns as well as works on loan in the exhibitions. The biannual exhibitions are intended to overcome art boundaries, question existing patterns of thought and surprise visitors.
