Culinary hike "From course to course" – Fivecountry view

The varied culinary hike takes you from the city of Gallus to the Rhine in the four-country corner. Breathtaking views of Lake Constance and three culinary stops in first-class excursion restaurants await you. After the first stage across flowering meadows and through shady forests, the restaurant Bären serves you a rich starter of Gruber specialities. With newfound energy, make your way up to the restaurant Rossbüchel  and the Fünfländerblick vantage point. Enjoy the delicacies from the regional cuisine and the spectacular view over Lake Constance and five countries: Switzerland, Austria, and the former independent states of Baden, Württemberg and Bavaria. From July 2025 on, the restaurant Treichli will be awaiting you and offering you a real classic garnished with a breathtaking view of Lake Constance. Now the descent to the restaurant Steiniger Tisch follows, where a well-deserved dessert is already waiting for you with the best view over the Thaler vineyards. The last stage ends at Rheineck railway station, where the train will take you comfortably back to St.Gallen. En Guätä!

Menu and schedule

11.15 am: Starter in the Restaurant Bären

• "Appenzeller Salatteller" leaf salads with Mostbröckle, cheese, potato and egg (vegetarian option also possible)

• Leek and bacon pancakes with salad garnish

01.00 pm: Main course in the Rossbüchel restaurant

Choice of main course:

• Boiled sausage & cheese spaetzli (Appenzell boiled sausage with quark spaetzli, Gruber village cheese and fried onions)

• Cheese spaetzli (curd cheese spaetzli with Gruber village cheese and fried onions)

From july 2025 on, the main course will be served at the restaurant Treichli.

01.30 pm: main course in the restaurant Treichli 

• chicken in a basket with French fries or salad

• red lentil dal with sesame rice and lime cream

• tarte flambée with salmon and rocket

03.30 pm: Dessert at the restaurant Steiniger Tisch 

• House dessert vanilla ice cream with pumpkin seed oil

• Fresh apple strudel with cream
