For many years, the mighty ibex Guido lived near the famous Batöni Waterfalls. But one day, he is found dead, having been poached. The local gamekeeper already has a suspect in mind. But is this person really the culprit? In the Ibex Crime Trail in the Weisstannen Valley, you take on the role of a detective and follow the clues. The relatively easy hike leads from the village of Weisstannen along a scenic high-level trail to Schwendi. Along the way, you will encounter seven stations where you must gather evidence, analyse clues and solve challenging puzzles. Unlike a traditional Foxtrail, the route itself is fixed. The real challenge lies in the investigation. Your powers of observation and logical thinking will be put to the test. Who is telling the truth? Which alibi does not stand up to scrutiny? Only by combining all the clues correctly will you be able to identify the poacher and solve the case.

Notes

The Ibex Crime Trail kit (in German) is designed for 1 to 5 participants. Families with children may also take part with more than 5 people.
The crime trail is challenging and requires logical thinking.
Younger children may take part, but will require adult supervision.
The crime trail is not suitable for pushchairs.
The Ibex Crime Trail kit (in German) is stored in a box on the right-hand side of the vending machine at "Alte Post". You will receive the access code after booking.
Sturdy footwear is recommended (at least trainers).
Bring your own snacks and drinks, or enjoy refreshments before the start at the "Alte Post" museum restaurant (please check the opening hours). Groups can also be accommodated outside regular opening hours upon request.
Before starting the trail, we recommend a visit to the "Alte Post" museum (please check the opening hours). A particular highlight is the “Oubertili Cinema”, featuring a unique multimedia show for visitors of all ages.

Recommended for children aged 11 and over. Younger children require adult supervision
Four kits are available per day
Groups of more than 5 participants can book multiple kits. Individual groups should start at intervals of approximately 10 minutes. If you require more than 4 kits, please contact us by phone for a customised booking.

Detective kit for solving the Ibex Crime Trail (in German)

Meeting Point

Start: at the "Alte Post" Museum, Weisstannenstrasse 312, 7326 Weisstannen

Finish: in Schwendi, Matellsstrasse, 7326 Weisstannen

The Ibex Crime Trail is not a circular route and leads from Weisstannen to Schwendi in the Weisstannen valley.

We recommend travelling by public transport, as parking spaces in Weisstannen are limited on weekends. Take the bus from Sargans to Weisstannen, Oberdorf (hourly services, please check the timetable). After completing the trail, you can easily take the bus from Schwendi i.W., Dorf back to Sargans.

Alternatively, you can park your car in Schwendi i.W. and then take the bus to the starting point in Weisstannen, Oberdorf. That way, your car will be waiting for you right at the end point after the walk.

Start possible at any time between 8.00 and 18.00 (duration approx. 2.5 hours). We recommend starting the trail early enough to ensure there is sufficient daylight to complete it.
