Hiking holidays Tell-Trail | Season 2

Important information

Arrival by train

Leave the car at home! For every bike, biking or hiking tour in Switzerland, you will receive an SBB coupon per participant, which you can use to deduct CHF 10.- from the ticket price for traveling by train. The reduction can be obtained in the SBB online store or in the SBB app.

On many trips, we use the luggage counters at the stations at the beginning and at the end to hand over the suitcases. You can conveniently combine this right away when you arrive by train. If you are a GA owner, you can provide this information when booking. We will credit you the amount on the invoice. If you don't need the coupon for the trip itself, you can use it during the year. Unfortunately, a retroactive refund is not possible for administrative reasons.

Description

The most beautiful of Central Switzerland

If the good William Tell had had more time, he would have chosen this route through Central Switzerland. The Tell Trail leads you on spectacular high-altitude paths, into small side valleys and along dreamy rippling rivers. You will discover the most famous vantage points and the most beautiful places in Central Switzerland. You hike in a wide arc from the Tell monument in Altdorf to the Muotathal, storm Stoos, Rigi and Mount Pilatus and finish the tour after a visit to Engelberg. The hikes are demanding and the views are dazzling: If it weren't for the landvogt Gessler, Wilhelm and Walter would have loved to take on this tour.

Itinerary (6 days / 5 nights):

Day 1: Arrival to Altdorf | Altdorf – Muotathal

Luggage drop-off in Altdorf. With the post bus to Bürglen and cable car ride to Ruogig. The first section of the Tell-Trail leads you along the Via Suworow over the Chinzig pass. Continue through the Wängital framed by peaks, and then along the Hüribach into the Muotathal.

Day 2: Muotathal – Brunnen

First a leisurely hike to Schlättli and with the world's steepest funicular up to the mountain village of Stoos. The hike from Chlingenstock to Fronalpstock is a classic with great views, and the final tour from Schwyzerhöhe to Brunnen is an idyllic finale.

3. Tag: Brunnen – Lucerne

You can take the cable car up to Urmiberg from the shores of Lake Lucerne. This is followed by a challenging hike past the Gätterlipass and the Burggeist mountain inn to Rigi Kaltbad. A wonderful panoramic view of the nearby peaks accompanies you today along the entire route. Take the rack railway down to Vitznau and a boat trip to Lucerne.

4. Tag: Lucerne – Pilatus – Stans

Bus ride to Kriens and an idyllic hike through the Chrienser Hohwald. The paths become rougher from Fräkmünt onwards. You circle the Klimsenhorn and hike on countless serpentine turns up to Pilatus. From here it takes you back down into the valley to Alpnachstad. Short train ride to the stage town of Stans.

5. Tag: Stans – Engelberg

The Cabrio-Bahn takes you up to the top of the Stanserhorn and offers you a panoramic view of the mountains of Central Switzerland. But soon it will be time to turn your back on Pilatus and Lake Lucerne, because today's stage is demanding. You follow the Nidwaldner Höhweg to the Storeggpass and then descend to the Eggen cable car station. Short hike to Grafenort and by train to Engelberg.

6. Tag: Departure or extension
