Beer tasting at the rack railroad

Saturday, May 27, 2023 will be the first «Bierdegu a dä Zahnradbahn» (beer degustation on the cogwheel train), where you can get on, get off, and taste beer. Sonnenbräu and Quöllfrisch will surprise you along the Altstätten-Gais railroad line with a wide variety of delicious beers.

The «Bierdegu a dä Zahnradbahn» starts for you either at the train station Altstätten Stadt or at the train station Gais. Equipped with a beer tasting glass and a goodie bag, there are a total of 14 types of beer to taste at four different locations. In addition, depending on the starting point at the Rietli stop or in Altstätten Stadt, you will be served a regional delicacy. You are free to choose the order of the locations. Included in the ticket is a day pass for the Altstätten-Gais rack railroad. In addition, there are more trains in operation on this day than usual. But if you want to stretch your legs in between riding the train, follow the signposted walking trail.

Individual arrival and return journey

Please note the timetable of the SBB app. The stations Gais and Altstätten Stadt are starting points of the event. The included day ticket only entitles you for free travel on the Altstätten-Gais line. For the journey there and back you need a valid ticket.
